Tote horse carriage
“Tote tote tote” stands for the old musical score notes of each sound in the melody of clarion, often used by tofu peddlers to signal their arrival in the old days. This is why the carriage has been called under the nickname of “Tote horse carriage.” The carriage operated as public transportation in Shiobara since mid-Meiji era. After visitors arrived at the entrance of Shiobara by train, they took the carriage to the hot spring town.
